Bad Habits at Home

Are Bad Habits Making You Crazy at Home?

Bad Habits at HomeWhat are your pet peeves around the home?

Have members of your family got you pulling your hair out?

Ever heard a group of women lamenting the woes of dealing with the bad habits in the home? Members of our Ideal Home Living Facebook Community sure had a lot to say about their pet peeves in their homes. Kerry Dahms hates it when the use of the good old toilet brush is ignored. “I don’t know why I have to be subjected to such a revolting sight!” I totally agree with her on that!

Are you the only person in your house who knows how to pack the dishwasher (which happens to be right underneath where they just dumped their dirty dishes grrrr!!!) or fold the washing? I mean seriously is it that hard!!!

Now Toilet habits certainly get a lot of conversations flowing!
So many families split in half since the invention of indoor plumbing.
The countless arguments caused over :

  • UP or DOWN
  • FOLD or SCRUNCH
  • Toilet roll OVER or UNDER

Our home is composed of people with many different personalities is it any wonder our partners and children’s personalities sure translate into their (sometimes bad) habits.

I, for one always find myself flattening the end of my husband’s squeezed-in-the-middle toothpaste tube. It simply drives me nuts sometimes. And I guess it will be every mum’s job description for all eternity to be always picking up things that were not put in their right spots- laundry, crayons, toys, shoes, and the list goes on.

I wonder if any Mum’s out there ever dream of drowning in flooded bathroom floors, being mummified (pun intended) in the wrongly-placed toilet paper roll, dying of dehydration from the never-replaced-with-a-new jug water cooler (Thanks Tracey for sharing) or being eaten alive by the ants in the left-open sugar jar! (Thanks Nancy for Sharing)

Chances are, they have. Good thing they were awakened at dawn by the freezing toilet seat because dad forgot to put it down. Yeah!!!.

Still, at the end of the day, our home is the only place where all our personalities and bad habits are grudgingly accepted. It is the only place where we can truly be ourselves without the fear of being excluded, excommunicated or fired.

Under all that glorious mess, the good habits of understanding and accepting will always be there and our contrasting personalities will never outweigh the same love we all share.

Can you totally relate to this? Share your thoughts, rant if you may by joining the fun of our pet peeves discussion in our Ideal Home Living Facebook Community. We hope to see you there!
